Domestic Violence Awareness

Course overview

Domestic violence remains a significant issue in Australia, affecting many individuals across the country. Approximately one in five Australians have experienced partner violence or abuse. This includes physical, sexual, emotional, or economic abuse by a partner they lived with. Specifically, about 2.7 million women and 1.5 million men have faced such violence.

This program is designed to educate and empower individuals, communities, and organisations to recognise, respond to, and prevent domestic violence.

Domestic and family violence is a widespread issue which has a serious impact on the community, the workplace, families and individuals. Frontline workers have an important role to play in assisting those who are subjected to domestic and family violence to gain access to the help and support they need. For many, the effects of domestic and family violence can be far reaching and devastating, or even fatal.

By the end of this course, you'll be able to:

  • Recognise signs of domestic and family violence

  • Respond with appropriate care

  • Refer to appropriate support services
