Learning plan overview

Mental Fitness is to mental wellbeing what physical fitness is to physical health. Just as physical fitness can be strengthened through regular practice, Mental Fitness can be developed through learning, reflection and everyday habits.

This eight-course learning plan takes learners on a structured journey. It begins with the foundations of wellbeing, emotions and resilience before introducing the four pillars of Mental Fitness: Flexibility, Endurance, Strength and Team.

Learners assess their current Mental Fitness, develop practical strategies across each pillar and create a personalised Mental Fitness Blueprint. The final course helps them turn their plan into lasting habits and behaviours.

Designed to be completed in sequence, each course builds on the knowledge and skills developed in the previous module, creating a practical framework for strengthening wellbeing, resilience and performance over time.

Courses included in this learning plan:

Mental Fitness is to mental wellbeing what physical fitness is to physical health. Like physical fitness, it can be strengthened through learning, reflection and everyday habits.

As the first course in the Mental Fitness learning plan, this module introduces the core concepts that underpin the programme. Learners explore the relationship between wellbeing and Mental Fitness, understand the role emotions play in everyday life and develop practical strategies for building resilience.

The course provides the foundation for the remaining seven courses, preparing learners to strengthen the four pillars of Mental Fitness and create their own personalised Mental Fitness Blueprint.

Building Mental Fitness starts with understanding where you are today.

This course introduces the four pillars of Mental Fitness—Flexibility, Endurance, Strength and Team—and helps learners assess their current strengths and opportunities for development through the Mental Fitness Index.

Learners also explore how everyday habits such as sleep, nutrition and movement influence Mental Fitness, providing a practical foundation for the pillar-focused courses that follow.

Change, uncertainty and unexpected challenges are part of everyday working life, particularly in hospitality. Developing Mental Flexibility helps people respond with greater confidence, maintain perspective and adapt when circumstances don't go to plan.

In this course, learners explore practical techniques for staying present, managing emotions and focusing their energy where it will have the greatest impact. They learn how to respond thoughtfully rather than react automatically, building habits that strengthen resilience over time.

Every workplace has busy periods, unexpected setbacks and demanding situations. Developing Mental Endurance helps people recover more effectively, maintain perspective and continue performing when challenges arise.

In this course, learners explore practical tools for building resilience, maintaining motivation and recognising unhelpful thinking patterns. They discover techniques for responding constructively to setbacks, reframing negative thoughts and developing habits that support sustained wellbeing and performance.

Everyone has unique strengths, but many people don't fully recognise or use them to their advantage. Developing Mental Strength begins with understanding what energises you, how your strengths contribute to success and how they can be applied with intention.

In this course, learners discover their signature strengths, explore the relationship between strengths, values and purpose, and learn how to apply their strengths in balanced and meaningful ways. By building greater self-awareness, they develop confidence, improve performance and create a stronger sense of purpose in their work and everyday life.

Mental Fitness isn't built alone. The quality of our relationships influences how we respond to challenges, maintain motivation and perform at work.

In this course, learners explore how supportive relationships contribute to Mental Fitness and discover practical techniques for strengthening communication, building trust and creating positive interactions. By developing healthier workplace relationships and support networks, learners can contribute to stronger teams and more positive workplace cultures.

Understanding Mental Fitness is only the beginning. Lasting change comes from putting knowledge into practice.

In this course, learners bring together everything they've learned throughout the Mental Fitness learning plan to create their own personalised Mental Fitness Blueprint. Using their Mental Fitness Index results, SMART goals and practical activities, they develop a realistic plan that reflects their strengths, priorities and lifestyle.

The result is a clear roadmap for continuing to build Mental Fitness long after the learning is complete.
